Here are some quick answers to questions we seem to get asked too often.
Q:
I saw a similar group claiming to be “non-profit,” but found out the leader was pushing his commercial bootcamps to the members as well as taking “kickbacks” from other local “gurus” for recommending them to the members. Is the Project Chicago Lair a commercial venture, or is there any type of commercial affiliation?
A:
No. In 2011, a group selling commercial services copied Project Chicago’s website, advertising themselves as “Project Chicago 2.0” and “the REAL Project Chicago.” That group later changed its name, but still uses the text copied from our website, with some minor alterations. That group is NOT Project Chicago. The leaders of the Project Chicago Lair do not sell any kind of products or services related to dating, relationships or sexuality, or accept any form of “kickbacks” from recommendations of such products or services, aside from membership in the group itself (see next question). This allows the Project Chicago Lair leadership to avoid commercial conflicts of interest, and to be able to provide objectively neutral, unbiased advice about commercial products, bootcamps, etc.
Q:
Is there any kind of membership fee?
A:
There is a one-time application fee (usually $25), which allows us to cover the costs of maintaining the website, renting venue space for meet-ups, and so on.
Q:
Do you guys meet and practice in real life?
A:
Absolutely. The group’s message board is primarily intended as a convenient way of organizing events and meeting new wingmen.
Q:
Will I learn to manipulate women?
A:
No.
Q:
Is there a focus on elements besides pick-up?
A:
Definitely; this is more of a well-rounded men’s club than having a one-dimensional focus. The ultimate goal is to help you improve as a person, in whatever aspects you want.
Q:
I’m interested, how do I apply for membership?
A:
You’ll find details at the bottom of our Joining page.
